This page linked from http://cancers.net and is
dedicated to
The right of a cancer victim to:
- to fully, understand the illness,
- its normal progression to death
- its classification schemes and their prognostic indications
- its genetics and your own genetics as a function of the genetics of the cancer you have
- its treatment options worldwide and their various success rates.
- and how to measure the progress of the disease as it develops
- the underlying and known science about the particular cancer
- the current research[in detail, like copies of all papers] and progress
- drugs or protocols in line to be approved
- to own his or her own medical records,
- to an analysis of his/her genes and those of his/her blood lines
- to know about the history/quality of the medical practitioner before treatment
- to know that the physician is not a scientist
- to obtain access to "real scientists not just MDs
- it is interesting to see how one MD tried to
confuse the issue by saying medicine not practiced by "ordained, organized, licensed,
medicine" is alternative medicine and all alternative medicine is
not scientific. This is the kind of thing which we believe patients should come
to understand. Most members of organized medicine do not understand that they are
usually ignorant of the world of science.
- not all scientists agree with "organized medicine".
- if not for scientists "organized medicine" would have nothing at all
- to know that medicine cannot tell you what causes cancer, nor
- can they tell you that anything they do will cure it. ( surgery excepted)
- to demand of "organized medicine" full disclosure about cost, outcome, and
prognosis,
- to be told of all funding options for the various treatments
- to be told of all treatments that are not available at the place where they are being
treated
The Obligation of a cancer victim to recognize the practice of medicine for what it is:
- schooling does not make of a person a practitioner, dedication does
- the words "practice of medicine" is a misnomer:
- human biology is a science
- human biology has many, many subparts
- one such subpart is medicine
- patients are denied access to most of the science of human biology by license law
- MD is a diploma earned after 4 years of schooling (usually 2 years very basic science
and 2 years doing 13 week each rounds in a clinical setting) (not much if you think about
it)
- there are very arbitrary limitations, on who can get a license to practice medicine
- must be admitted to an approved Medical school ( not a Ph.D. program)
- even PHds who taught MDs in Med. School are not allowed to take the test or to get
a license
- License not be issued to any one who does not have an MD (crazy?)
- must posses an MD degree from an approved school
- license (to practice medicine) does not protect the patient, it protects the MD
- license gives control of the practice of human to the industry, because industry lobbies
the lawmakers
- license laws makes it illegal for a scientist to apply his skills to a victim of cancer
- MD practitioners of medicine are like gas station owners:
- they retail the products of large companies
- they are the gatekeepers to products of the larger companies(prescriptions)
- they service the products of large companies
- they fix the problems that the products of large companies provide
- they are the entry point for sick people seeking help
- they classify clinical presentation of biological abnormality by disease type
Organized Medicine is
- an group of highly regulated industries which carefully controls access and funding
- Pharmaceuticals
- Medical Training
- Hospitals
- Research ( Government buck grabbers); but not scientific research
- Practitioners
- Insurance
Websites are challenging the knowledge of "organized medicine" and
"organized medicine" has decided to fight back, by trying to say there are
health sites you can trust and they will tell you which ones you can trust.
Organizations like Health on the Net foundation, the IHC:Internet Healthcare Coalition,
and the pharmacy oriented VIPPS are trying to get into a position to accredit websites and
to prevent those that are not accredited from appearing. DO NOT BELIEVE
"organized medicine". SCIENCE IS BETTER THAN MEDICINE in dealing with
unknown challenges (like cancer). MEDICINE IS not only dependant on science, it is
also AFRAID that SCIENCE will empower the patient in with such sophisticated technology at
inexpensive prices such that the patient will need neither "organized medicine"
nor its "licensed practioners".
TRUE, SCIENCE IS NOT ALWAYS AS ACCURATE AS MEDICINE BECAUSE SCIENCE DEALS WITH THINGS
THAT ARE NOT ALWAYS KNOWN, Whereas MEDICINE DEALS WITH THINGS THE WAY IT ALWAYS HAS based
on experience not facts. But science has a methodology which is completely different from
that of medicine and the license laws have denied sick people access to this methodology.
Medicine is slow to adopt and is cautious of lawsuits and problems, but the real issues
facing a cancer victim is staying alive. Time is against a victim of cancer, so too
are "regulations", "thinking within the small box offered by clinical
medicine", "being denied access to the scientist and their methods[but at the
moment, against the law]". Nonetheless some sites that organized medicine would
probably approve are listed below(click on the *):
* (hospital bill audit for patients) * (oncology) *(children)
*(interesting) *(med)
*(govt.)
several pharmacy sites *, *, *
other medical type sites: *(popular) *(women) *
